Volunteering

The success of a LDRS launch depends greatly on volunteers to help us out. Please consider working one or two shifts to ensure the success of LDRS 41.

The following is a description of the volunteer roles available and their responsilities:

  • Launch Announcer – Announces the upcoming flight, issues warning for heads up flights and provides entertaining commentary for the flights.

  • Launch Control Officer (LCO) – Performs launching operations of all launch pads. Operates the Wilson FX launch system under the direction of the Launch Announcer.

  • Launch Safety Officer (LSO) – Performs field, pad safety, aircraft, drone, compliance. LSO can abort the launch at any time using a kill switch. Must be L3 certified

  • Range Safety Officer (RSO) – Performs inspection of stability construction and reliability performance of registered TRA/ NAR/CAR member’s rocket. Must be L2 or above

  • Launch Pad Tech (LPT) – Assist registered fliers to pads. Help with positioning rockets away from parking area and spectator areas. Must be L 2 or above

  • Parking Attendant – Attendants to direct cars arriving for the launch and maintain organized parking areas.
